RIFA Soup Kitchen

RIFA provides hot, nutritious meals 365 days each year, including all holidays.  At month-end or when school is not in session, the number sometimes grows to 200 each meal.  There is no charge for the meals, and no one is turned away.  Many people get their only hot meal of the day in the Soup Kitchen.  Annually, we serve over 44,000 meals in the RIFA Soup Kitchen. 

Lunch is served seven days every week and dinner on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Worship and Bible studies take place in conjunction with various meals. 

RIFA staff and over 1,000 volunteers annually from local churches and service organizations carry out the meal planning, preparation, and serving. 

In October, the Soup Kitchen volunteer schedule for next year will be prepared.  If your church or civic group has not been part of the volunteer schedule in the past and would like to be, please call.  We will work with you to provide an opportunity for your group to serve one or more times next year.  A minimum of five volunteers at a time come to serve - but more are always welcome.

Typical needs in the RIFA Soup Kitchen:

Commercial size canned vegetables (6 per meal)

Commercial size canned chilli or stew

Home baked desserts

Powdered drink mix

Mashed potato flakes

Sugar

Plastic forks

Paper towels

Napkins

Meats such as:

   hot dogs

   ground beef

   deer meat

   shredded pork or beef

   breaded cutlets
