Souper Bowl of Caring
Annually on
Super Bowl Sunday
Over 15 years ago, a single prayer led a senior high school youth group to a simple, yet powerful idea to fight hunger and poverty in their community.
The Souper Bowl of Caring is a national event which occurs every year on the same Sunday as the NFL's Super Bowl. The Souper Bowl is traditionally led by youth in local congregations. The youth hold soup kettles and stand at sanctuary exits following worship service on that Sunday. They collect $1 or more from each church goer to support hunger-fighting efforts.
National in scope, yet local in impact, the Souper Bowl of Caring works toward making the weekend of the big game an unprecedented time of giving, showing compassion, and serving. Wouldn't it be wonderful if $1 were collected from each of the 130 million Super Bowl viewers?
Please consider supporting RIFA Soup Kitchen which is open 365 days a year feeding those in need. In 2007 RIFA served over 44,000 meals to the local hungry.
Collect some soup kettles, some large kitchen spoons, and organize your youth to bang the kettles to draw attention to the plight of the hungry in Jackson/Madison County.
---And together, we will fight to end hunger in our community!
